 'Developing the future workforce'

As Head of Future Skills, Martin is responsible for disrupting and pump-priming the UK’s underserved, yet strategically important roles in manufacturing as part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult strategy.

Martin leads our team of future skills advisors, who identify future workforce capability requirements and recommend new competency frameworks, curricula and academic standards to address them, bridging the UK’s STEM skills gap. He also leads our team of Instructional Designers, who design and produce the technical delivery content for these future requirements as well as upskilling regional Institutes of Technology and Further Education providers, to scale up the adoption of these new programmes across the country. This approach formed the revolutionary ‘Skills Value Chain’ as detailed in the Gatsby report ‘Manufacturing the Future Workforce’.

Martin is a learning and development expert with over 30 years’ experience in the manufacturing and automotive sectors, focused on training and education solutions. His projects have included programme design, management, and the delivery of technical training, non-technical training and apprenticeship programmes for customers such as Volkswagen Group, Aston Martin, Land Rover, Jaguar, Honda, Volvo and Bentley Motors.
