DEBBIE JAGLA

Managing Director, Orchestra of The Swan

strand: arts, culture & music

Managing Director of Orchestra of the Swan and resident across the border in Gloucestershire for nearly 20 years, Debbie has been obsessed with classical music since she was 11 years old singing in the church choir in Bangkok, only discovering the wealth of alternative music when her teenage daughter (now 34 years old) became equally obsessed with rock, pop and country!

A Bachelor of Music and graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and Guildhall School of Music, Debbie began her career as a professional singer before nodules struck in her mid-30’s.  Fortunately, the siren call of the choral world led to a vibrant career in administration as the Development Director of the Three Choirs Festival, before joining The Swan in 2015.

Over the last 8 years, the focus of the orchestra has shifted from predominantly concert performance to an even balance between concerts and a tailored, meaningful engagement with the communities around each of our orchestral residencies; the most inspiring and exciting of which is our partnership with the Warwick Schools’ Foundation, which you will hear about today!
